Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Polk County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within the site team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, ordinary server and analytics systems may collect technical details about that visit:
- Page-view timestamps and time spent on viewed pages
- The device's assigned IP address
- Browser name, version, device class, and operating system
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- The pages opened during the visit
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and analytics services help measure aggregate traffic, popular pages, and where visits end. Browser controls can block or remove cookies, though disabling them may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a query to the outside service selected by the user
- Maintaining site availability, speed, and security
- Finding and correcting performance or technical faults
- Measuring which Polk County resource pages visitors use
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Polk County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its content identifies official routes such as the Polk County Sheriff, the Judicial Center clerks, the Texas Department of Public Safety Crime Records Division, and the Texas Public Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not turned into a record about another person or a consumer report. This site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the site's search boxes. A query submitted through one of those tools is governed by that company's privacy policy, retention rules, and sharing practices rather than this policy. Review the provider's terms before entering a query because this site does not control how the provider handles it.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Polk County offices, Texas court and DPS systems, legal resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an outbound link, the destination's own privacy rules govern the visit. Those terms should be read before personal information is submitted.
Advertising companies may use their own technology to measure activity across websites and select targeted ads. That processing occurs on the advertiser's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold by this site. It may, however, be available to the following limited recipients:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and site performance
- The search provider chosen to process a submitted query
- Advertising networks that deliver ads on the pages
- A government or law-enforcement body acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information within this site's control. No internet system can be guaranteed secure, so these measures cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. Information identified as having been supplied by a minor will be reviewed for deletion.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may provide rights concerning personal data held by a private site. The Texas Public Information Act, Government Code Chapter 552, governs access to records held by Texas governmental bodies, not this privately operated website. Government Code Chapter 411 separately limits the dissemination of Texas criminal history record information. Subject to the law that applies, a visitor may:
- Request a copy of personal information held about that visitor
- Ask that inaccurate visitor information be corrected
- Seek deletion where the governing law permits it
- Opt out of covered forms of data processing when a legal right applies
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as site practices or legal requirements change. A revised policy becomes available on this page and carries a new effective date.
Effective date: August 9, 2026
