Polk County Arrest History
Several agencies can create a Polk County arrest record. The Sheriff handles county and unincorporated calls. Livingston, Onalaska, and Corrigan police retain reports written by their officers. Constables, Texas DPS Highway Patrol, and other public authorities may also make arrests. The badge agency on the paperwork is the first clue because the narrative report stays with the agency that wrote it.
Polk County Jail creates a new booking record when a person enters local custody. Fingerprints and a tracking control number help Texas DPS connect that arrest cycle to the right state criminal-history record. A magistrate creates warnings and bond papers. The prosecutor and clerk create a court case only when a charge is filed. These records can describe one event, yet each answers a different question.
Four Polk Arrest Records
One Polk County arrest can create at least four practical records. The officer's report explains the reported event and probable-cause facts. The jail booking proves intake and custody processing. The magistrate papers address warnings, probable cause, and bond. A later court file shows the charge that the prosecutor actually filed and the result. The arrest label and filed charge need not match.
Record flow: Agency Report › Polk Jail Booking › Magistrate and Bond Papers › Prosecutor Review › Clerk Case File › DPS Reporting
A search confined to one step can mislead. Court records miss rejected or unfiled arrests. A live jail list misses people after release. The DPS public name product can miss nonpublic or unreported outcomes. Match the report number, booking number, and court cause number instead of expecting one universal identifier.
Looking Up Polk County Arrests
Start with the official channel closest to the event. Polk County now links a Current Inmate List from its jail hub, although the roster host was not reachable during research. Use the official link first and call the jail when it fails. Then follow the record to the arresting agency, court, and state system as needed.
- Check the Polk County Jail Information hub and its official roster link, then call 936-327-6822 for current custody.
- Identify the arresting agency and request its arrest or incident report. Ask Polk Jail separately for a booking sheet or jail entry.
- Search the County Clerk for a filed Class A or B misdemeanor, call the District Clerk for a felony, or contact the municipal or justice court for a fine-only case.
- After a state transfer, use the TDCJ Inmate Information Search. For self-review, follow the DPS fingerprint process.
- If screens are incomplete, submit a precise Texas Public Information Act request to the agency that keeps the record.
Use the full name, date of birth when known, arrest date, location, agency, report number, and booking number. Ask for a releasable arrest report rather than asking staff to answer broad questions. Once a case exists, the Polk County criminal court cases page explains how to obtain filed charges and the final judgment.
Requesting Polk Arrest Reports
Send the narrative-report request to the office whose officer made the arrest. Livingston Police uses 936-327-3117. Onalaska Police is at 372 South FM 356, Suite 104, and uses 936-646-5676. The research confirmed Corrigan's city office as its source channel, while the current records line should be checked on the official city site. A Texas DPS highway arrest requires the DPS public-information route for the officer report even if Polk Jail handled custody.
Polk County Sheriff and Jail
1733 N. Washington Ave.
Livingston, TX 77351
Sheriff: 936-327-6810
Jail: 936-327-6822
The county's public-information instructions route requests through NextRequest, by email at PIARequest@Polktx.gov, by mail, or at 101 West Mill Street, Suite 247. Describe the record, event, date range, place, agency, people needed to locate it, and requested format. Body-camera requests must identify the involved person, approximate date and time, and location. Protected victim data, juvenile material, private identifiers, and active-investigation content may be redacted.
Inside a Polk Arrest Record
A Polk County booking entry generally centers on one jail intake. Public fields can help connect the custody record with the officer report and later court case. The live roster's exact profile fields could not be confirmed, so treat the list below as the documented booking inventory to verify against the current official screen or jail response.
| Booking number | The jail's identifier for that intake, useful when requesting a booking sheet. |
|---|---|
| Booking date and time | Shows when custody processing began, not when the alleged conduct necessarily occurred. |
| Arresting agency | Points to the office that holds the narrative incident or arrest report. |
| Initial charges | Lists the intake allegations, which can change after prosecutor review. |
| Bond | May show amount, type, or no-bond status for each listed charge. |
| Booking photo | Public availability was not confirmed; protected identities and active-case rules can affect release. |
| Custody or release | May show present status or release date, but transfer and update lag can affect the display. |
Medical, mental-health, facility-security, and other protected flags are not ordinary public booking details. Date-of-birth visibility and future court dates also depend on what the live system exposes.
Booking Logs and Recent Arrests
The Polk County Sheriff jail hub links an official Current Inmate List. It is a current-custody lead, not a permanent arrest-history index. When the host times out, call 936-327-6822 and ask whether the person is held, released, or housed elsewhere. Polk County warns that staffing ratios can lead to temporary placement in Angelina County Jail or a Louisiana facility, so physical location may differ while the case remains Polk County's responsibility.
The official Polk jail page provides the proper starting point for custody information.
Its roster link and jail phone are safer sources than a commercial arrest gallery, especially when a record has changed after release or transfer.
Absence from a current list does not prove that no arrest occurred. A person may have posted bond, been released without a filed charge, moved to another facility, or appeared under a name variant. Obtain the booking number and dates, then request the original record if historical proof is needed. No names or booking photographs should be copied into an independent gallery.
When Polk Custody Moves to TDCJ
Polk County Jail covers pretrial detention and local custody. After a qualifying sentence and transfer, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice becomes the correct state-custody source. Search by TDCJ or SID number when possible. A name search is stronger with date of birth and other identifiers. The result can include custody status, location, projected release, and parole-related dates, but it is not a substitute for the signed Polk County judgment.
The official TDCJ search form shows the state locator fields used after transfer.
The state result extends the custody trail, while the Polk County District Clerk retains the felony case documents that explain the sentence.
Federal custody is separate. The official BOP locator applies only if the matter became federal or the person entered Bureau of Prisons custody.
A BOP match should be checked against the federal docket, just as a TDCJ match should be checked against the Polk County judgment.
Polk Highway Arrests and DPS Records
US 59/I-69 and US 190 cross Polk County, so a highway arrest may start with Texas DPS rather than a city police officer or Sheriff deputy. Read the badge agency on the citation, bond paper, or jail entry. Request the officer's incident or arrest report through the DPS public-information process, even when Polk Jail supplied the booking number and local custody record.
Downstream records still split by outcome. Polk County clerks hold any locally filed prosecution. DPS Crime Records can receive the fingerprint-linked arrest and later disposition. TDCJ becomes relevant only after a state sentence and transfer. Keeping the agency report number, Polk booking number, and court cause number prevents those three systems from being mistaken for one database.
Why DPS May Miss Polk Arrests
The Texas DPS public name search disseminates reported conviction and deferred-adjudication information with associated arrest segments. It does not promise every Polk County arrest, especially a recent event with no public outcome. Each search uses a $1 credit, and a no-match still consumes that credit. Similar names can also return records for more than one person.
For a review of one's own identity-matched record, follow the DPS personal-review fingerprint process through FAST and IdentoGO. Fingerprints are more reliable than names for aliases and common-name collisions. If a Polk County arrest appears wrong or lacks its disposition, collect the clerk's certified result and use the DPS challenge instructions. A mere public-name-search miss should never be read as proof of no arrest.
Note: Reporting delay, name variants, and restricted outcomes can all separate a local Polk booking from a DPS public result.
Arrests Are Not Convictions
An arrest record shows that an agency took a person into custody or processed an arrest. It does not establish guilt. The court determines the filed charge and outcome, and the prosecutor may change, reject, or dismiss the initial allegation. Read the signed judgment before describing a conviction.
| Arrest record | Conviction record |
|---|---|
| Created by the arresting agency and jail | Created and signed through the court process |
| Shows report and booking facts | Shows a finding of guilt and sentence |
| Held by police, Sheriff, or jail | Held by the proper court clerk and reported systems |
| May end in release, no filing, dismissal, or acquittal | May lead to sentence, appeal, supervision, or qualifying relief |
A dismissal does not itself erase the Polk County arrest trail. Texas expunction under Code of Criminal Procedure Chapter 55A may clear a qualifying arrest, while nondisclosure has a different effect and does not destroy every record.
Note: A Polk County arrest is not proof of guilt, and the final filed charge may differ from the booking allegation.
